Trading in Ghana faces challenges like access to finance, electricity supply, customs and trade regulations, and corruption, as well as issues with infrastructure, high costs of cross-border trade, and a burdensome bureaucracy, to help curb these menace
The Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) pays a curtsy call to the Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) to dialogue and seek possible solutions in the trade sector.
Speaking at the dialogue the leadership of the Ghana Union of Traders Association, led by its president, Dr. Joseph Obeng bemoaned the influx of foreign traders who take up space the in the domestic market.
“Traders from others country take up spaces in the domestic market space also clients from the Ghanaian traders”
He added that the “traders’ laws are to the exasperates
businessmen but the act of fronting by some Ghanaians makes it difficult to enforce these laws for effective trading”
The Acting Chief Executives officer of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, Mr. Simon Madjie stated that, his outfit is committed to working with GUTA to felicitates smooth trading
“We will work with your outfit to get incentives and benefits from the 24-hour economy and he issues surrounding the influx of foreign traders will be handled with the expertise to prevent trade wars”
It will be recalled few years back, Ghanaians traders tried to prevent some Nigeria traders from selling in the domestic market which nearly led to an international trade wars.
Mr. Madjie pledges his support to curbing the problem and prevent future occurrence
